Intro Camp 2009 (not that full, might edit if i'm free)

on 2nd, we (the seniors) started the intro camp. We went there by 7.20 am checking out the campsite and so on, clearing, cleaning. Then, checked out that the HQ's light's wasn't functioning. So, went to WPT and told the woman (and she was asking me the 2nd time "do you play badminton", this time i say no although i do cuz last time she asked me, i say yes and she say her son also playing same place with "me" which was actually referring to Chan Chung and then, i knew it was chan chung since he also play badminton and i've never played in a coaching with Malay before cuz it's Chinese Recreation Club). After that, we went back to campsite and unload stuffs which was transferred from the den. Then, settle up everything and started building stuffs at 9. I was in charge of the hourglass tower as usual (since i was the 1 who started the idea and being successful in it, haha). Then, we settle up the 2 main structures and help out in the gateway. The gateway was cool, creating lots of problem solvings, haha but eventually it turned out great. After that, i go cut tyre tube, easy job yet needed cuz i settled with the hourglass tower too fast d, haha, what to do la when the guy in charge of it knows too much, lol.

Then, we took our lunch aka breakfast too and continued our job and suddenly a problem came whereby this guy, a tractor man, working for MPT 1 i think came to the recruits campsite and started telling them to move to other side just because of a hole that was there before this camp and some draining system on the ground which was also there before the camp. So, the recruits find me and Timothy (camp leader) and we went there and talk with him. Anyway, i told the recruits how to talk to him to shut him off. It's simple, they just need to say "the holes were there even before the camp starts and the MPT didn't told us that we can't build anything at this place when we were booking it, since they didn't tell and now we're the 1 renting it, it's our power to do whatever we like with this campsite by abiding to the rules stated and this hole thingy is not stated in the rules, beat that, you noob". So, to avoid time wastage, after teaching them how to talk to him, went back to the HQ and help out in this and that. Then, after quite a few number of them were free. We continued with the 2nd part of the hourglass, the building part and only then, i knew that the recruits were not good in tying gadgets with tyre tube. So, we retie it but it was not regrettable cuz i've to expose them with it. Then, we pull it up and the main structure was completed. Then, i settle the stairs for it. Since the top structure was using small bamboos, i settle the platform and the side fences. It was hot that time and i was up there... tying all that, so i got sunburned in the end.

After that, we continue to solve problems about the gateway and it was funny thinking back about it, haha. 1 problem after another, yet solved in the end, lol. By then, the problem of lighting in HQ was settled and the 4 legs for the aerial runway was up. Then, we also settle the bottom tripod and the progress of aerial runway was stunted there since we needed the bigger tali guni which we forgot to bought (yet we're seniors, swt). Then, at night it was like quite fun like that doing nothing if i'm not mistaken. We chit chat and suddenly there was a phone call from ZH, asking for back up to push his car out of the mud and we sent 2 since we thought it was a simple 1, in the end around 8 of us went there to back up cuz half of the tyre were stucked in it (half!! and it's a Lorenzo) and finally it was a tractor, a big tractor which pulled it out with our ropes. We went back to HQ, so did he to wash his tyre and his tyre was punctured. Then, gave some water to his car too since it was overheated with the full power reversing for many time. After he went home, we went to sleep. Then, woke up at 5.50 like that for bugle call for the recruits and morning jog. Then, we made preparations for the juniors arrival. By then, everything was nice already especially the gateway, lol. So we all started the istiadat pagi with the registration of juniors. Then, i was in-charge of Helang to guide them if they need it. So, since everything was done except the aerial runway, i went there to guide them. In fact, the purpose of this is to teach the juniors some stuffs that their PL forgot to teach and also guiding them what to do and so on but i forgot to tell the rest of those who are in charge, so it didn't end so well and i ended up not doing it as well since i need to check out the recruits campsite and also help out with the aerial runway. After that, we continued with the progress of aerial runway and completed the 2 main supports.

We started off with out 1st activity of the day which is the talk session (ceramah) about scouts stuff. but i wasn't there, settling the platform of the structure of the aerial runway. Then, i went back to the HQ to complete the prep for a game for the juniors which ended up haywire, hahaha. should've done that earlier man, swt, undermining the game prep too much d. At 8pm, the game started with a briefing and continued and on and on until 11.15 like that. SH pants was torn while trying to kidnap the juniors, haha. Ended up letting the juniors laughing at him (the kidnapper) lol. The game ended and we went to build aerial runway. this time, with Sudesh help again, we settle the takal thingy and the whole thing was finally completed, only left the sitting part. Then, we went to Pow Wow, using AK47, M16 and so on. After finish shooting here and there, we went to sleep and continue the next day.

After bugle call, jogging as usual. And morning ceremony.. After that, we went for morning inspection. After settling that, help out with the aerial runway a bit for the pulling part just to ketatkan the thing. By then, i went to settle the sitting part too. Used quite some ikatan. Finished up and we went to HQ, relaxing a while since it was kinda hot and had a little complications with the treasure hunting game. After cancelling out 2 bases, they were back and continued with thier cooking competition. Then, we were ready for the halangan komando, wahahaha. And this time, i was incharge of the aerial runway.... finally, after so many times of being in charge of deadman's crawl (what to do la when you're the best in deadman's crawl, hahaha). Deadman's is hard mainly for the turning of 360° around a rope which only a few seniors can do and for a little bragging, i was and still the best in it =) (thanks to Chan Leong who taught the easy way and myself too who was able to grasp it easier compared to the rest of my comrades, lol). So, it was like kinda tiring... motivating the juniors to be brave when they were going to sit on the plank and tahan their weight at the top there with additional weight of the gravity and also potential gravity energy for 6 patrols.. 6 patrols man, not 1, lol but i think the 1 doing the primary breaking system were more tired since it's break after all with so much momentum in the the game, especially those big size juniors, tough luck man, haha. After all 6 patrols played, Mr.Yeap came, and he played as well and it ended well, lol. After they play, seniors start playing, so as recruits and they started busy taking pics while they juniors started busy washing up since the commando crawl was muddy, lol. After that, we started busy preparing for the malam kebudayaan. This time he malam kebudayaan was nice with the singings, guitar solo by Joshua and also the campfire, singalong, some bomb games and so on. It was overall very nice compared to the years before.

In the malam kebudayaan, shaun did a great song "we will rock you" his own version, and it was damn nice, astonishing everyone with it, including the seniors who didn't know about it. And the bomb game, seniors lost 1st, hahaha, buat malu only, lol but it can't be blamed cuz some of us dunno about it and started bombing, ended up bombing ourselves, haha. After all that, we started dismantling the aerial runway which took us some time to build it up but took little effort to take it off and also the gateway. Then, we went to "kidnap" shaun, lol and he started retaliating and my pants tore but not as serious as SH's. Luckily it was night, no one saw it, haha. and i tucked out my shirt to cover it and went home to sew it, lol. After that, went back to campsite and help out in other stuffs while most of them were sleeping as usual, after that was morning ceremony and i hentak 90 degrees, and felt the fragileness of my pants, hahaha. After that, i dare not hentak 90 degrees d, lol. Sadly i got no back up pants la, if not ah, can d man, lol. After that was morning inspection and timothy gave me the marking thing to give the patrols marks. Then, we settle everything up and destroyed everything we built up for the camp, this time hourglass tower and spaceship, left only the tiang bendera. Oh ya, we took some pictures too for hourglass, it was in fact the best hourglass we built, the highest and also best i would say, only the fencing, 1 of it was slightly bent, cuz i couldn't reach that far to tie, hahaha.

After everything, we had our istiadat menurunkan bendera and 4 of us blew the last post, half way, i punctured d, lol. but back up a little bit and there with the low tune part. Then, we shut the whole camp up and this time it was quick for everything if we compared it to the previous years. So, i would say this camp is quite a success but also a failure at some part when our super ex-senior came and point everything thing out. The ex-senior that came was seriously good, i mean in terms of knowledge and everything. There were also mixed feelings towards him, hate and like and so on among the recruits and us. But i would seriously like him to come more often cuz he's doing stuffs which our scoutmaster doesn't, passing down knowledge which is totally what we need, not some ciplak talks which i've heard for years, not mentioning, didnt help to solve problems when he questioned us for years about it. Very fortunately, Mr.Yeap didnt come for our pow wow which saved us a lot of time and he actually praised our aerial runway as i heard, kinda unexpected at all, lol. Normally he'll be the M16 there or even sniper, and this time he became spectator, not terrorist nor counter terrorist, haha. After clearing up everything, we went home and some of us went to help out with the bamboos and den stuffs. Wanted to go but i heard there was enough ppl, so went home and check out the computer stuffs.

While checking out the computer stuffs, i got sleepy for a few times and even once... i banged my nose on the computer desk.... swt, luckily didnt break, just pain, which reminds me last time i banged my forehead on the computer desk, dunno which camp, hahaha. So the moral is don't check your computer stuffs after a tiring camp even when the 1st day is relaxing. After that, went to sleep until 11 something pm. Then, had my dinner aka supper and continue finish up my computer stuffs. At 2am plus, back to sleep round 2 and woke up at 1pm the following day. Lol, kinda sleeping too much days, probably cuz i lost some stamina not training for 1 year.. haih. Should've gave 2 weeks after the exam to train la, what the. It could've been much better that time. Then, i realized that these days, kids are seriously being pampered like hell... too many proofs for this case till i wont want to write about it, hopefully they'll be independent enough in the future. And also it's nice that we had a great meal before the malam kebudayaan starts which actually show the juniors that this camp is not all about suffering, in fact we can actually enjoy a great meal if we organize our time and team nicely, which was tom yam fish and rice, not to forget cool and refreshing syrup after getting tired all day. To realize 1 thing which is very obvious, i got sunburned which can be seen through the colour of my face and hand skin compared with my upper hand which was covered throughout the whole camp. Overall, it was a great camp and the best for our batch, we no longer have any chance to organize this kinda camp since there'll be no holidays after this, so hopefully the next batches are able to do it. Perhaps with some altering with the seniors QM part, just focused on 1 thing, not others. Anyway, extra credits to my fellow seniors although i think they know about everyone's gratefulness to everyone. Thanks to every single senior that helped out no matter how short or how long of a period it was. And to Alden who were sick and couldn't attend the camp, thanks too for the preparations for the camp, AVA stuffs, and all. Had a great time scouting with you guys, hopefully these memories will stay deep in our heart forever. Good luck in your studies and all the best in your future exams including the mid year one. I'm not one who express feelings in a face to face situation but i can in words, so i would like to say it now that you guys were great friends especially to those i've often hang out with, every single one of you will always be in my mind, as loyal friends, Fiel Unidad! Peace! (anyway, i don't think anyone of them knows about this blog, so it doesn't really matter, hahaha)

Plus if you guys realized, in this camp, i didn't help out much like normal which i believe i can explain it now, it's mainly because all these while, you guys have been relying on a few of us too much and this have affected your growth in terms of knowledge, leadership and so on. Probably it's too late for me to reduce my leadership as it's nearly the end of our tenure but to the very least, i know i wasn't wrong doing so because i have to do it in order for you guys to grow and be independent, reliable instead of relying, i have these qualities and i need you guys to have these qualities as well in order for everyone to benefit it from scouting (somehow all these words come out from my mine while typing, swt. if only can remember to say it in pow wow). I'm sorry for not able to think out of this when i was in CCA or CPL, dominating the leadership part of our troop but slowly after realising it in Recruits, i've given it to Daniel which was fair enough. I had to since our junior, the Form 4 were growing in our pace, our batch would seriously need someone to can be above them, not letting them step on us, which i suppose would be me, which was the main thing why i was not able to let go of the leadership that time and the extra trainings which i did, just to make sure our batch would get the respect as seniors. If i was like those inactive scouts, definitely our batch would've been stepped by the Form 4 batch as Chan Chung was leading his batch too well and would beat us flat if i wasn't there. So, that's the reason for not letting go of my leadership too early and probably it's time for this pillar of support to be taken away and just be a guide. The following batch is well trained enough, just that they need the knowledge which i couldn't give which also means i didn't have the chance to have. Therefore, i really need good ex-seniors to come and teach what have been forgotten. My batch have also grown well, it would be better if they could've done everything at a faster rate which also lead back to my fault for being too reliable in scouts, but in this camp, i saw you guys capable of running a camp which only average help from me, that's good and i believe this have earned you guys the respect from the recruits who dominated you guys individually in the past. And i'm proud of you guys as the troop leader of 09/10.

Pictures are up, only a few though and it looked around the same(cuz it's my camera and i only remembered to use it the last day as i was busy build build and build)
