LYNAS

is this problem really worth the fuss? This problem was discussed since last year and it became a very high profile thing this year, not really sure how it became this big of a scale though but anyway, i think it's not even worth the tiniest fuss and actually i do support this move unless somebody can prove to me how those thorium will affect the well being of the citizens in Kuantan. While it is very true that thorium is a chemical radioactive substance, it emits alpha particle which means that it's penetration can be stopped by even our hand if i'm not mistaken (kinda too long since i've studied nuclear stuffs) which means that if we take the extra safety measurement by using lead, the problem of it affecting the health of our citizens will be solved and for the waste, definitely it's a freaking long time of billions of half life, i kinda read somewhere they were going to throw it back to Australia or was that what the anti-lynas supporter is telling Australia? lol cuz i don't think the Australia government is willing to accept it unless that was in their agreement. Anyway, certainly it can be solved. For alpha particle, ionisation is definitely high but normally it's due to the penetration lvl that it normally causes problems cuz you need a strong resisting material as in the likes of lead to block it from penetrating further to the public. Besides, this plan was also approved by IAEA, International Atomic Energy Agency (or something like that), i seriously don't see how it can be bad unless those in charge of it screws up.

Well, i do only see 1 problem though which is according to the New Yorks whistle blower, engineers are taking short cut of using low standard steel instead of higher quality ones, so, time factor or money factor or bribery or they feel that's sufficient based on their research and studies? i do not know but if they want to protest, i was thinking they should be protesting on this, asking them to use high standard materials as the lives of the citizens do rest on the quality of material they use.

Seriously, tell me, what's really the big issue here that even political figures (when they are not even the big figures in Science majors) are entering the frame to protest against LYNAS from extracting rare earth here? If they are big shots of this subject as in nuclear and radioactive subject, then it might change things especially if they do voice out. Comments are totally welcomed for this case cuz i do agree i'm lacking info too as i only know they are harping on the radioactive and waste topics and i do see how it can be solved if they do things right, definitely no prob at all. It's more like a matter of trust whether you can believe Lynas in managing it properly although a doubt has arose, the short cut by using low quality material, not even sure whether that's true or not, it should be correct though since it's a whistle blower report from New York Times, should be la, not saying that it'll be true. Information these days...... /e5 and seriously oppose this if possible, especially those very well educated in nuclear physics or so, support also no prob, just wanna get a better insight of this case.
